What is Daunozer?
It is a chemotherapy drug for various types of leukemia (blood cancers)
Uses of Daunozer
Acute leukemia (AML, ALL)
How does it work?
Daunorubicin inhibits DNA replication and division. It also generates free radicals that oxidize the cell membrane, causing cell death.
Common side effects
• Low blood count
• Hair loss
• Mouth ulcers
• Reddish colored urine
• Weakness
• High temperature
• Loss of appetite
Serious side effects
• Myloeuppresion
• GIT bleeding
• Hemorrhage
• Cardio toxicity – irregular heartbeats, shortness of breath
• Fluid retention
• Liver toxicity
• Painful urination
Precautions
It should be used cautiously in patients with –
• Heart problems
• Kidney diseases

• Previous viral infection- chicken pox, shingles
Contraindications
• Not to be used if any previous allergy or hypersensitivity to Daunorubicin or any excipients.
• Breastfeeding mothers
• Pregnant women

Monitor regularly
• Total blood count
• Cardiac functions
• Avoid leakage into surrounding tissues during infusion to prevent local necrosis.
• Use effective contraception during the treatment and after the treatment for the recommended period.
Administration Instructions
• To be administered intravenously only, as a slow IV infusion.
• To be used immediately after reconstitution.
Storage
It should be stored at 2-8 degrees Celsius, protected from light.
