Cytarzer is an anticancer medicine used for various cancers of the blood.

- Acute Myeloid Leukemia
- Acute promyelocytic leukemia induction
- Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia

- Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
- Meningeal Leukemia
How does Cytarzer work?
It inhibits DNA enzymes (polymerases).
Inhibit DNA elongation and replication.
Inhibiting cell division causes cell death.
Contraindication -
Hypersensitivity or allergy to drug components.
Cannot be used in Active Meningeal Infections.

Toxicities
- Myelosuppression
- High doses cause corneal toxicity
- Cerebral and cerebellar toxicity
Common side-effects -
Irritation at the administration site, gastrointestinal disturbances, stomatitis, conjunctivitis, reversible hepatic enzyme elevation, mouth sores, and dermatitis.
Severe Side Effect-
Myelosuppression- decreased overall blood count.
