What is Dorucin?

Dorucin is an anticancer medicine that is used as a cytotoxic agent to kill viable cancer cells for various types of cancer.

Blocks the enzyme topoisomerase 2

Difficulty in breathing

Toxicities

Dorucin causes dose-dependent toxicities

Cardio toxicity - Arrhythmia, irreversible cardiac failure

Myelosuppression - decreases in red blood cell count, white blood cells, and platelets.

Vesicant effect - severe local tissue necrosis

Contraindications

Not to be used in patients with prior hypersensitivity to the drug or its excipients.

Liver disease

Warnings

To be used under medical supervision as a slow intravenous infusion over 15-60 minutes.
