What is Lapakast?

Lapakast is an anticancer medicine that is used orally against solid tumors and breast cancers.

Uses of Lapakast –

• Advanced-stage Breast cancer

• Metastatic Breast Cancer

• Lung cancer

How does Lepakast work?

It causes programmed cell death by inhibiting HER-2 and EGFR receptors.

It inhibits signals for cancer cell growth and division.

Common Side-Effects

• Anorexia

• Diarrhea

• Skin rashes, itchiness

• Stomatitis, constipation, and abdominal pain

• Palmar-plantar erythrodysaesthesia

• Pain in the extremity, back pain

• Hair loss

Serious Side-Effects

• Bleeding in the stomach

• Dehydration

• Electrolyte imbalance

• QT prolongation

• Hand and foot syndrome

Toxicities

• Cardiac toxicities

• Hepatotoxicity

• Interstitial Lung Disease

• Pneumonitis

Not to be used in patients –

• Hypersensitive or allergic to the drug or its excipients.

• Breastfeeding mothers

• The liver function- AST, ALT, bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase

• Cardiac function- periodic assessment of left ventricular ejection

• GIT disturbances- hydration status
