Mycophenolate Sodium Tablet is a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug. Mycophenolate Sodium Tablets are prescribed in diseases where one's own body can turn upon itself. It is an immunosuppressant and thus helps in lowering the activity levels of the immune system. It is mostly prescribed in rheumatoid arthritis and kidney and organ transplant.

Mycophenolate can be used in tandem with other medicines to keep body from not accepting kidney transplant. This medicine belongs to immunosuppressants. Basically, it weakens the body’s immune system (the natural defence system of the body) and helps body to accept the newly transplanted kidney. In a way, it tells the body to accept the (external) kidney as if it was the part of the body itself.

The Mycophenolate Sodium Tablet as a DMARD helps slow the immune system and thus actively slows down the progress of the issue.

The tablets are to be taken daily at the same time with 12 hours gap in case of 2 tablets a day. This tablet should be taken with water and food and not on an empty stomach as it can cause pain and nausea. The tablets should not be broken or chewed and should be swallowed directly. • Cancer
• Genetic disorder

One should not take this medication while using marijuana, cannabis, alcohol, etc. the drug can make one feel drowsy, and these aforementioned substances can make one feel drowsier.

One should not take this medication while being pregnant, as it can get absorbed through the skin and thus can affect the baby's health. One should discuss birth control and other risks while taking this drug. Consumption of this medication should be avoided during pregnancy.

Lastly, one should not donate blood while on Mycophenolate sodium 360 mg and 180 mg. One should also not donate blood and sperm even after completing this Tablet course until completing 6 weeks.

 Laboratory side effects of Mycophenolate Sodium Tablet

The severe side effects of this tablets, are not that common.

• Increased risk of PML (progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy), a type of brain infection.
• Low or high levels of white blood cells.
• Decreased levels of blood platelets.
• Low levels of neutrophils.
• Thyroid level lowered.
