Description
Pirfekast 200 (Pirfenidone)
The Pirfekast 200 (Pirfenidone) is an oral drug for adults suffering from mild to moderate idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a disease where the tissues in the lung get swelled and scarred – leading to difficulty in breathing. This medicine, Pirfekast 200 (Pirfenidone), helps reduce the swelling and other effects due to the condition, helping the patient breathe better. But the side effect of the medicine causes the person to become sun-sensitive. So it is advised to use sun protection cream and cover the exposed part better from the sun rays. The scarring, or fibrosis, is reduced to help the person suffering and breathe better after being on medication on this Pirfekast 200 (Pirfenidone) drug. The medicine is strictly for adults and not children or adolescents below the age of eighteen. This medicine is given to the patients who have mild or moderate idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis or IPF.
Administration of the Pirfekast 200 (Pirfenidone):
This medicine should be taken orally as directed by the physician. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. The medicine can be taken without or with meals after the doctor’s consultation. This medicine cannot be bought without a prescription from a professional doctor. Do not stop abruptly or discontinue the medicine, as that can lead to harmful effects on the person’s body, such as the reappearance of fibrosis and difficulty breathing. If the dose for the day is skipped, do not add that dosage to the next dose. This can lead to overdosing and can have unwanted consequences. Continue on the medication for as long as the physician has prescribed, and be regular for positive results.
When should the Pirfekast 200 (Pirfenidone) be avoided or taken cautiously?
